Manchester United vs. Sevilla 2018 live stream: Time, TV schedule, and how to watch Champions League online
The Champions League Round of 16 is nearly done, but there’s still a little more distance to go before the quarterfinals are drawn. Manchester United have been on a roll of late in England, and it’s high time Jose Mourinho and company bring their successes to Europe by getting past perennial noise-makers Sevilla.
Manchester are coming off a big win over arch-rivals Liverpool and a triumph over Chelsea two weeks ago, two big results after months of drawing criticism for underperforming when the stakes were high and being dull otherwise. There’s been a spark in this team since the addition of Alexis Sanchez at the end of the January transfer window, and it’s helped propel them to find a gear that’s been absent since their excellent early-season run of form.
Sevilla, though, have been floundering a bit. They lost heavily to Atletico Madrid the weekend after the scoreless first leg of this tie, and neither of their wins in the following weeks were overly impressive — and their loss to Valencia on Saturday was outright deflating. They’ve fallen out of the Champions League race in La Liga, and their grasp on even a Europa League place is starting to slip. They’re going to have to come out swinging hard to take this tie, and the odds are stacked against them.
What Sevilla do have going for them, though, is that they kept that first leg scoreless. That means that any goals they score will give them the away goal tiebreaker, and that means Manchester United will always have to go looking for goals. Any draw will end with Sevilla going through and Manchester going home — but having to be that aggressive to take and hold a lead will potentially leave Manchester open to Sevilla’s devastating potential on the counter attack. This is going to be a fascinating chess match to watch unfold.
